Laser Pens and Night Flying

All residents should be aware of the increase in the number of incidents regarding people shining lights at aircrafts engaged on night training flights from RAF Church Fenton.

It is an offence under Article 222 of the Air Navigation Order 2009 which creates the offence of using a light in such a way that it will dazzle or distract the pilot.

North Yorkshire Police and the RAF Police are working in partnership to combat this problem. There will be an increase in patrols during the period when night flights are in operation and persons caught committing offences will be dealt with robustly.
